ACTIVITIES

Do Your Own Thing

It's your choice here at Wangrah!

Fishing

There's nothing more relaxing than dropping your line into a beautiful, flowing river and hoping....

The Mole River is picturesque, with cool, clear sandy shallows and mini white water, tumbling over an assortment of rocks and stones.

Wangrah Wilderness Lodge has over 20kms of frontage to this beautiful river. The tree-lined banks are home to many native animals and birds.

The dawn chorus here is really something everyone should experience.

Fish for the elusive Murray Cod or Yellow belly and if your catch is zero, you've had a fantastic day, anyway!

BYO Rods. *Lures available at reception.

*Please note Wangrah is a CATCH & RELEASE AREA (Penalties Apply)

Bike Riding

Bring your mountain bike to Wangrah Wilderness Lodge for a riding adventure or hire one of our mountain bikes to ride out on the many bush tracks and trails; a great way to get up close and personal with the country.

There are a number of natural trails that can be explored or be adventurous and find your own special piece of the bush.

Our hosts Sharon and Carl can give you further information on where the best places to explore are on the property.

Bushwalking

Wangrah Wilderness Lodge is the ideal destination for bushwalkers. There is a wide range of diverse walks, starting from easy riverside strolls to challenging mountain climbs with magnificent views on arrival. There are a number of established tracks as well as 5, 000+ acres of wilderness you can explore.

Birdwatching

The Northern New England region is teeming with bird life and for the avid birdwatcher, Wangrah Wilderness Lodge is home to a diverse array of birds, all of which have been sighted in this area, including the King Parrot, Masked Lapwing (formerly Spur-winged Plover), Superb Fairy Wren, Red Browed Finch, Noisy Miner, Wille Wagtail, Australian Magpie, Welcome Swallow, Pied Currawong, Crested Pigeon, Sulphur Crested Cockatoo and Australia’s iconic Laughing Kookaburra.

The bird life is best seen from the riverbanks, as many birds are attracted to the river to feed along the river's edge. Birds that are likely to be seen are the Black Duck (formerly Painted Duck), Little Black Cormorant, Great Egret, White Faced Heron and Little Pied Cormorant.

We are currently working on putting together a handbook to identify the different types of birds in this region. If you have visited Wangrah Wilderness Lodge and you have captured a bird on camera, please share your images with us by sending them to enquire@wangrah.com.au
